You have taken a courageous step by being here & I’m here to support you on your journey. Even amongst great difficulties, I believe we can all live with a sense of ease. My hope in our work together is to help you discover the ease & sense of “aliveness” you are looking for - whether that be through solving problems, navigating challenges, or exploring the next (or current) chapter of your journey in more depth.

My style aims to create space to explore & then to create clarity & structure to bring about meaningful change & growth. During our first session, we will design together

how to do that in a way that is most helpful for you.

The majority of my training has been from the Co-Active Training Institute where I received my International Coaching Federation (ICF)-accredited Professional Coaching Certificate, complemented with training from the Performance Paradigm on culturally-informed, inclusive coaching (which is central to my approach). I have coached individuals across the globe with diverse backgrounds, life stages, &

motivations for seeking coaching. Prior to coaching, I worked for a Fortune 10 company where I led global teams & programs, served as an internal coach & facilitator, & lived in various cities across the U.S. & in the U.K.

More recently, I call San Diego, CA home. In my freetime you can find me daydreaming about interior design, on a hiking trail, or in search of the best ice cream cone in town with my partner.

I look forward to getting to know you & working alongside you.

Therapy can be helpful for navigating and understanding the intricacies of life. Whether you are entering a difficult season, wanting to connect and know your true self, or needing help to find a new perspective, therapy can be a remarkable journey of self-discovery and connection. In our sessions, you'll find a non-judgmental therapeutic environment where you are safe to be authentic, honest, and open.

For couples, therapy can be used to support the natural ebb and flow of relationships. Couples therapy is an opportunity to re-establish connection, learn communication skills, and begin to develop a deeper sense of knowing your partner. With a focus on emotion, we will co-create a space that values practicing empathy, vulnerability, seeking new perspectives, and listening skills. I act as a compassionate ally for both you and your partner as you navigate the journey of your relationship.

Whether you are an individual, a couple, or a family seeking support, my approach honors your unique needs and circumstances by meeting you where you are. Here, we will cultivate a relationship built on trust, allowing you to explore your inner world, heal from past wounds, and strengthen your connections with others. By ensuring that your life story is at the heart of our work together, we will create a holistic and affirming therapeutic experience.

My educational journey began at Oberlin College, where I pursued a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology. I further honed my skills and knowledge at Seattle University, earning a Masters in Couples and Family Therapy, which laid the groundwork for my work in systemic therapy. Before stepping into the world of counseling, I immersed myself in reproductive health, working as a medical assistant, doula, and patient advocate. This experience enriched my understanding of life's transitions and the power of support and connection.

When I’m not in the therapy room, you can find me exploring the vibrant city of Seattle with my beloved dog, soaking in the energy of live music, or enjoying heartfelt moments cooking with my friends and family.

Being a human is hard. Coming to counseling takes courage. Let’s start this new chapter of your life together.

I believe in providing genuineness, empathy, and unconditional positive regard to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment for you to experience insight and growth. Empowerment is also an essential part of my counseling philosophy; through working together, I hope we can access the power that you have within yourself to rise against your problems. I use an integrationist approach, with a focus on narrative and cognitive-behavioral theories. This means that the process of examining personal stories and separating yourself from the problem, along with analyzing and reauthoring thoughts and behaviors are important parts of how I do counseling.

I am from Oregon, currently residing in Ellensburg, Washington. I have a BS in Psychology with a minor in writing and moved to Washington to obtain my Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I completed my practicum at Central Washington University. I love writing, playing various tabletop and video games, watching Netflix, and hanging out with my cat!

As we all try to navigate life’s highs and lows, I believe it is important to remember that we don’t have to do it alone. I believe that seeking therapy is an act of courage, and it takes a brave person to reach out for help. I strive to foster a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe to explore your whole self.

I work with individuals, couples and families. I believe in looking at a person from a holistic point of view to ensure that you have the opportunity to share your full unique story. I provide a therapeutic experience that allows you to share your story with me as I help to guide and support you through that process. I use several different modalities depending on what is best for you and your goals in therapy.

For teens, I strive to provide a space where they feel comfortable to explore themselves as they navigate new transitions in their life like school, relationships, family, independence, and values and beliefs. I believe it is important to meet teens where they are at and provide a space where they feel like they can be their true authentic selves. It’s important for me to help teens to identify their own strengths and feel confident in their identity and who they are.

I completed my bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Utah State University. I furthered my education at Seattle University, earning my Masters in Couples and Family Therapy. Before continuing my education at Seattle University I worked in the mental health field with teenagers where I developed my passion for becoming a therapist.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my dog, traveling with my family, trying new restaurants, and planning my next road trip.

Life Coaching Testimonials

I found my coaching session with Melissa to be incredibly beneficial. She quickly helped me to identify the goal of the session, and I felt understood and supported throughout. I left the session feeling energized, motivated, and with a clear plan of action. I was particularly impressed with how Melissa helped me to connect my mind and body through breathing exercises and guided meditation. This helped me to find my center, and it is an exercise that I can repeat whenever I feel unbalanced. I also found the action item that I took to be very helpful. I can do this every morning to start my day in a different mindset. Overall, I was very impressed with Melissa’s coaching skills. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for clarity and guidance on how to balance mind and body.
Really helped me see things from a different perspective!
I loved my coach’s ability to help me think through life in a new and interesting way. She challenged me to go beyond my current circumstance in order to analyze my life’s purpose more intentionally.
Melissa took the time to truly get the root cause of my perspective, to listen with intent, and respond respectfully. Highly recommend her expertise, especially as it pertains to her inclusive style with working professionals of color.
My sessions with Melissa are always incredibly interesting and thought provoking. Melissa asks questions that can seem slightly uncomfortable, but it’s because the questions force you to look below the surface at how you are really feeling. She doesn’t force or pressure you, she makes you feel at ease whilst you look into these areas.
Melissa is incredibly precise and flexible to adjust the conversations while leaving practical steps to reach the end goals.
My coach was very engaged, approachable and easy to speak with. She gave me some actionable takeaways and I really enjoyed the session!
I didn’t know what to expect going in to it, but the hour spent with Melissa was amazing. She asked thought provoking questions that made me look at things from perspectives I never thought about. She allowed me to control the topics whilst maintaining control over the session and knowing when to dig, ask me to stop and take a second or to dig deeper.
I appreciate how she pushed me to think outside the box, really assess deep intuition levels and come up with my own insights.
