I believe in a collaborative therapeutic process in which I walk alongside you on the journey of self-reflection, personal growth, and reconnection to your core self. I want my clients to know they have autonomy through the therapy process, and I will continuously guide and encourage them to find change within themselves.

I know that one's personal experience is ambiguous, and I am excited to explore your story with you. My therapy space is free of judgment. I believe in the power of laughter, tears, and everything in between. I want to provide a space where you are free to experience and express any and all emotions that come up.

I am a client-centered therapist who will always adapt techniques and structure to the needs and goals of the specific client. I am trained to engage in treatment from a systemic lens and look forward to diving into all parts of your life!

What truly fills my heart with joy is forging connections that hold meaning. This is precisely why the realm of therapy has captivated me. I received a BS in Psychology from the University of Oregon. After graduation, I made my way further up the west coast to begin a Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy at Seattle University. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, live music, and spending quality time with my friends and family.

Therapy offers an opportunity for discovery, self-reflection, and ultimately transformation. I approach the therapeutic process with curiosity, genuineness, and compassion. Theoretically speaking, I draw from cognitive-behavioral and existential perspectives to help conceptualize your life journey and challenges. My overall style is warm and direct while honoring and recognizing the expertise you bring on your life to the counseling process.

I was born and raised in western Washington and spent several years living abroad in Australia. I completed my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Western Washington University and am currently earning my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Eastern Washington University. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, gardening, and painting.

My therapeutic style is dynamic, warm, direct (with kindness!), and inherently strengths-based. I truly believe everyone has the capacity to create beautiful, long-lasting change. I use a collaborative approach to support my clients in creating goals, challenge unsupportive patterns, and problem solve along the way. I will meet you where you are, honoring your unique strengths and shedding light upon your innate capacities to cultivate growth and change.

Drawing from systemic, relational, and integrative approaches, I pay close attention to the patterns, stories, and systems that may be impacting the challenges you are facing. Ultimately, it is my goal to support the journeys of individuals and families towards greater wholeness, intimacy, and deeper connections to not only themselves, but also those around them.

In addition to earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Gonzaga University and working toward my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Seattle University, I have also engaged in ICF coaching training, and have been certified as a PEERS ® for Young Adults instructor where I acted as a coach for neurodiverse individuals and those with social challenges. With over 5 years of experience supporting individuals and families as they navigate mental health, I have seen firsthand the power that understanding an individual holistically can have.

A proud born and raised Seattleite, I love soaking up everything the city has to offer—yes, I even enjoy those grey, rainy days! Outside of work you will find me at the park with my miniature Bernedoodle, Theodore, trying a new restaurant, running, or off somewhere chasing the sun.

Hey, y'all, I'm Marisol, and I am ecstatic to be here. My goal as a mental health practitioner is to provide clients with a space where they feel safe enough to heal while empowering them to grow and learn what they are capable of. I seek to deliver empathetic understanding and honest reflection in a compassionate and logical approach. I specialize in mindfulness, meditation and helping people develop and implement self-care plans. My most profound belief is that we cannot take care of others if we are not taking care of ourselves.

My first academic loves were Chemistry and Nutrition, and via a convoluted and winding path, they led me to Mental Health Counseling. I earned my bachelor's degree in human environmental science with a minor in food and nutrition from The University of Alabama. My path led me to the Middle East, around the United States, and eventually to South America as a Stress Management Coach for a private school community. From there, I found counseling and decided to finish my Master's. I am completing my clinical mental health counseling master's with the University of West Alabama. I live in Poulsbo, Washington, with my husband of 26 years, my two nonbinary kids, our two boxers, and Mefistofeles, the one-eyed cat. We are a genuinely goofy bunch who enjoy cooking, gaming, and live-action-role-playing together.

I have a BA in Biology and an MBA in healthcare management. Initially, I worked in various healthcare settings. In each of my jobs, my highlights were my empathy and relatability.

Eventually, I realized I must rediscover where to employ my strengths better. So, I volunteered at the crisis text line and then worked as a team leader in the 988 - suicide prevention line, where I was recognized for my passion for therapy and counseling. In addition, I guided clients through grief, loss, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, bipolar, schizophrenia, autism, ODD, and OCD in work outside of therapeutic sessions.

I have experience working with all ages in different capacities, such as school settings, crisis services, nonprofit organizations, residential settings, and inpatient mental health centers.

When you meet me, you will find that I am warm, compassionate, person-centered, and trauma-informed. I am described as a person who handles sensitive matters with care and ease where no topic is taboo. My therapy method is respectful, personable, open, knowledgeable, and humorous in my sessions. All faiths, or lack thereof, are welcome. With a strong spiritual focus, I can help people seeking a more spiritual relationship with themselves and their higher power/higher calling. My therapeutic approach involves collaborating with clients to identify and enlist their strengths or resources to improve their quality of life.

I expect to complete my LMFTA by the end of 2024 while a member of AAMFT and the International Honor Society of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am trained in various modalities such as systemic family therapy, Gottman, Internal Family Systems Model (IFS), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and experiential therapy. I enjoy helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges, whether personal, with couples, with family, or with peers. I have personal multicultural experience and am bilingual. I canconduct assessments both in Arabic and English. Moreover, I have specialized training in Group Crisis Intervention, Suicide Prevention, and I am a Certified Behavioral Technician (CBT) through the DOH in Washington. Wisdom is a value I utilize in my interventions, and I hope to bring a light that brightly but softly shines with guidance in a time of need.

My therapeutic approach focuses on fostering healing and growth and emphasizing the value of relationships and connection. I strive to create a collaborative, warm, and empathetic safe space in which clients feel valued and empowered to explore their experiences and relationships. Approaching sessions with genuine curiosity, I aim to provide a therapeutic relationship that inspires clients to engage in opportunities for mutual growth, authenticity, and connection. Therapy can be the space for us to cultivate belonging and resilience. You are not alone; we can do this together.

My goal is to understand the client holistically, recognizing the impact of systemic oppression, power inequalities, and societal expectations. I am highly dedicated to integrating cultural sensitivity and social justice into the therapeutic process by creating an inclusive and affirming environment for all my clients. I am highly motivated to ongoing self-reflection and will advocate for my clients both inside and outside of the counseling room.

I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in gender and sexuality studies at the University of Washington. I am currently working towards my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling at Eastern Washington University. As a therapist, my journey is deeply rooted in personal transformation. Having navigated my own path of healing from childhood abuse, I understand the profound complexities of overcoming deep wounds and embracing self-love. My mission is to provide a sanctuary where individuals can embark on their healing journey, unveiling buried pains to foster self-compassion and prosperity.

My professional background extends beyond therapy, having spent a decade as a lawyer specializing in criminal law. This experience, coupled with my involvement on the Board for the Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative, fueled my passion for guiding children away from negative cycles toward empowerment and positive change.

My academic journey reflects a diverse foundation, with a Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota School of Law, a Masters of Environmental Policy from Vermont Law School, and a Bachelors of Art in English Creative Writing from Indiana University. Currently pursuing a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University, I aim to merge systemic theory with a personalized approach, tailoring healing models to suit each client's unique needs.

Believing in the transformative power of emotions, I specialize in working with narcissistic and empath dynamics, addressing childhood core wounds, and advocating for the processing of difficult emotions as the cornerstone of mental well-being. My therapeutic philosophy centers on collaboration, walking alongside clients rather than dictating their journey. As an artist and creative writer, I incorporate Art Therapy techniques and Creative Writing to expand healing possibilities, encouraging exploration and expression. In essence, I aspire to create a nurturing space where individuals, families, and children can embrace their vulnerabilities, rewrite narratives, and embark on a journey toward holistic healing and personal growth.

My personal hobbies involve oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting, singing, crafts and scrapbooking. I love reading to my three children, and enjoy watching movies, cooking, and baking with them. I love to foster creativity and an open spirit in my own children, and carry that same desire through with my clients. I look forward to working with you.
